Former US President Donald Trump reportedly earned between $100,001 to $1 million through the sale of NFTs, as per a filing submitted on April 14.
The filing revealed that since March 2022, President Trump had served as the manager, president, secretary, and treasurer of CIC Digital LLC.
This entity had granted NFT INT LLC the authorization to use Trump's name, likeness, and image for the creation of the highly-publicized "Trump Digital Trading Cards" NFT collection.
In addition, the filing disclosed that Trump had earned more than $5 million from public speaking engagements and less than $201 from the Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind Truth Social.
NFTs Of Ex President Trump
The President Trump NFT is a digital art collection that was released in December 2022, featuring 45,000 pieces. Its association with the former president generated significant interest within the community, leading to a sell-out on the launch day.
However, media coverage of Trump has impacted the collection's value, as Coingecko data shows it reached an all-time high of 0.675 ETH in February. Notably, sales volume doubled before Trump's arraignment in New York City, providing context for the fluctuating value of the collection.
The President Trump NFT collection garnered significant community interest, as evidenced by its total trading volume of over $19 million according to CryptoSlam data.
However, the collection faced several controversies since its launch. There were allegations of insider trading involving the rarest NFTs in the collection, as well as reports of stolen art.
Ownership of President Trump NFT Collection: Who Holds the Rights?
The ownership of the President Trump NFT collection has been linked to serial entrepreneur Bill Zanker, who has previously collaborated with Trump.
The New York Times reported that a considerable portion of the sales revenue from the collection had been committed to Trump.
Additionally, the Wyoming address of NFT INT LLC, the company authorized to use Trump's likeness for the collection, has been associated with shell corporations previously.
The official website of the collection explicitly disclaims any ownership, management, or control by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization, CIC Digital LLC, or any of their respective principals or affiliates. Furthermore, the website states that the NFTs are apolitical and unrelated to any political campaign.
Donald J. Trump faces 34 felony charges in New York for falsifying business records and is under investigation for his conduct during his tenure as president.
