Aston Villa secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday, moving within six points of the top four.

Jacob Ramsey scored early, slotting home a cushioned header from Ollie Watkins after a superb cross by John McGinn. Watkins then doubled the lead with a sharp turn and finish from close range in the 64th minute, before sealing his brace with a simple back-post finish in the 84th minute.

Watkins has now scored 11 goals in his last 12 matches. Despite a lively start from both teams, Newcastle failed to mount a serious comeback and only managed one shot on target, a saved effort from Alexander Isak.

Aston Villa secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday. Unai Emery's side lined up in a 4-4-2 formation, with Emiliano Buendia partnering Ollie Watkins up front. Buendia's tendency to drop deep created space for Jacob Ramsey and John McGinn to run into and helped ensure Villa had the upper hand in midfield.

Ramsey hit the post in the 15th minute, and Watkins had a goal ruled out for offside before scoring his first of the game in the 64th minute. He scored again in the 84th minute to seal Villa's fifth consecutive league win.

Newcastle's best chance fell to Alexander Isak, but he was denied by an acrobatic one-handed save from Emiliano Martinez.

Villa are now in sixth place in the Premier League with 50 points, three behind Tottenham Hotspur in fifth and six behind Manchester United in fourth. Eddie Howe's Newcastle, on the other hand, remain in the relegation zone.
